Peace, Love and Poetry

Number two,

Jasmine “SwEEt VenoM” Bailey, a Pre-Med major at FAU and my Unadulterated Poets co-founder with her poem:

Heaven’s Gates

What would happen if we could pay our way to heavens gates,
Escape the sin we lived in by the dividends we made all added up to a
sum at the end of our days?
What would happen if we could pay for our sins like life fees
Who would we find in heaven after people were deceased?
The guilty, yet wealthy catholic priests
Or the millionaire rapper that died at the hand of the gang that he
leads?

What would happen if there was no harvest to reap after sewn seeds
Or if good deeds didn’t matter,
But dreams of heaven were shattered
By the mere lack of zeros at the end of our checks
Yet Ms. Engage in pre-marital sex is next in line for her angel wings
And so she sings a song with uneven pitches and tones of superiority
Because being high in the clouds was her only priority
Yet she knew she didn’t have to abide by the word that she heard
Because she had the funds to compensate for her deeds
So if we could pay our way to heavens gates, where would most of us be?

And it’s so easy to say that if this concept was a reality your
mentality would be to make as much money as possible
100,000 dollars for that time you broke the commandment "thou shall not
kill"
Because you killed someone's character
Cocked back your tongue and fired off a round of insults into the heart
of their integrity
And then 50,000 bucks for the next time you did this more readily
And steadily the stack of bills you've accumulated have you in
spiritual debt
And you need a quick plan cuz your life may be next
So you continue to sell a piece of your soul as a loan to Satan
And then end up hating your choice cuz you're back at the starting
point

So we should be glad the only way that our fate equals those golden
gates is by the way we live
By how much we give,
And no I don’t mean giving money because I'd trade financial stability
for an ounce of humility
Or six figure checks to live by at least six commandments correct
I'd even trade all of my poetry lyrics in exchange for the fruits of
the spirit
Then I wouldn’t need any Broward General Nurses
I'd heal my body with a few Bible verses
Cuz life is in the word and the word is in Him
But in this day and age we're more concerned with rims and timbs That
we think we can buy our way to heavens gates
But we have to remember, all the money in the world can’t erase your
sin
Can’t give you a clean slate
Can’t go back in time and take back that apple they ate
So money can’t fix this
The only way to heavens gates is to be spiritually rich!
